Physical digestion begins in the mouth with chewing. An enzyme begins the digestion of starch in the mouth. Swallowing pushes the chewed food down the esophagus by peristalsis. Chemical digestion continues in the stomach with acid and protein enzymes. In the small intestine srarch digestion and starch digestion finish ,fat digestion occurs here with the help of bile fom the liver. Absorption occurs in the small intestine. Any waste materials are passed on. Water is absorbed in the large intestine.
