Errors in copying DNA can be beneficial because...

a) chemicals sometimes damage DNA.
(b) many proteins are imperfect.
(c) some base sequences cause cancer.
Both (a) and (c).
(a), (b), and (c).

The only benefit my professor said is that errors in copying DNA create genetic variation (an evolutionary aspect)
It's not one of the answers, so I'm confused.

There is no good answer there but the answer that is the least wrong is b. I'm guessing the question should actually read 'harmful' in which case the answer would be c.
