I encountered a huge bug in my basement tonight called a Water Scavenger Beetle....I'm scared there is more?..?

This bug was huge, and hideous. It took a great bit of effort just to kill it. I think it climbed up out of my drain in the basement, but I'm not sure. I wish I knew for sure where he came from.. It was all alone when I found it, and I've never seen a bug like this in the 8 years that I lived here. I was wondering if I should be worried that more of these evil bugs may be lurking around me?....This thing was nasty, and I'm certain they must bite.

omg I love beetles why did you kill it ...u could sell it to a collector like me....I am pretty sure most beetles are harmless though....could you estimate its size?
