from the dictinary, evolution is (biology) the sequence of events involved in the evolutionary development of a species or taxonomic group of organisms .
I have a question (I am not a debater, because I know the nature of this question but its been on my mind for so long that I have to put it out there!) please ans it, respect others and no fighting.
my question is if we believe in evolution, and it is a continouse aspect of life. why is it that just like people give birth which we know possible of everyman, why can't we see anyone yet develop from man into anything yet?

You need a better dictionary. That definition is *terrible*. Notice how it defines the word "evolution" in terms of "the evolutionary development." It is a circular definition.

I notice that this definition is listed as the Thesaurus summary (not the dictionary definition) here:

http://www.thefreedictionary.com/evolution

The full dictionary definition, which they give just above the thesaurus definition is:

3. Biology

a. Change in the genetic composition of a population during successive generations, as a result of natural selection acting on the genetic variation among individuals, and resulting in the development of new species.

b. The historical development of a related group of organisms; phylogeny.

Part (a) describes the *process* ... slow change in a population (like a species) over many generations. They also go a little farther into the *theory* of evolution (why this change occurs) than is necessary. And the phrase "and resulting in the development of a new species" is unnecessary. Evolution can occur with or without the development of new species.

But the important point is that it is just *CHANGE* in a *POPULATION* over *MANY GENERATIONS*.

Part (b) is a less important part of the definition ... we often refer to the "evolution" of the horse, meaning its ancestral history. The definition you listed is closer to this definition ... but it makes no sense unless you also have part (a).

Now to answer your question:

"why can't we see anyone yet develop from man into anything yet?"

Because evolution is never, ever, ever about an *individual* developing.

It is always, always, always about a *POPULATION* changing. A group of *MANY* individuals changing over *MANY* generations.

Hope that helps.

General dictionary definitions aren't particularly impostant to science. Nevertheless, that summary isn't too bad as a concise introduction.

I and my wife have two children. I can see them, and they developed from us. However, they came delivered with their own individual mutations. That's evolution in action; modified descent. Both our children qualify as anyones.

Evolutionary forces (aka natural selection) aren't concerned with your convenience, your benefit, your comfort. If you happen to be a male, and the system works well in your species if you get eaten immediately after having sex, then you get eaten. This is brainless, emotionless selection going in no particular direction apart from those which happen to work.

It could be said to be the most brutal form of dog-eat-dog capitalism, but that would be ignoring the detail that an excellent strategy for success in business and procreation happens to be cooperation. "Survival of the fittest" is an oft cited phrase, but those proclaiming that should learn to think about the survival of the friendliest as well.

None of this will help with any inconvenience you might feel when shaving. Shaving less could..

Evolution is a very slow process, and changes are small and subtle. We won't see new species effects within our lifetime, however it would be interesting to see the slight differences in physiology from people born, say, 1000 years ago to people today.

Another thing - if you're familiar with Darwin's theory of natural selection (ie survival of the fittest), the way humans reproduce today actually counteracts natural selection. People with genetic predispositions to heart disease, obesity, diabetes, and other conditions still have children, and their children have children. Compare this to the animal world, where sick or disabled animals starve or get eaten, and therefore do not reporoduce, whilst the stronger or smarter ones will have a greater chance of survival and thus reproduction. According to this theory (which I am not advocating), if only the healthiest, smartest people were allowed to reproduce, we will probably see a large number of similar people in the world. A good movie that discusses this is Gattaca.

We can;t see any development because it would obviously take a lot of time...

With this, evolutionary changes could happen only if there are somethings we need to change...for example....when the earliest man live, they ate raw meat that's why they need molars and the wisdom tooth to eat it properly...As we learned how to cook meat, the wisdome tooth was not needed that's why we evolved without it...

It takes a long time and evolution depends on the situation a person into....get it?

The evidence for evolution is and has been interpreted from a Philosophical and ideological Bias, The answers given by adherents to Evolution here in R&S is proof of the bias and agenda, Atheism has to have an alternate explanation—other than a Creator—for how the universe and life came into existence.

Darwin once identified himself as a Christian but as a result of some tragedies that took place in his life, he later renounced the Christian faith and the existence of God. Evolution was invented by an atheist.

What is sad is that Christians are falling into this Trap and trying to fit evolution into the Bible (Theistic Evolution) thinking they can make it fit.

Lee Stroble in his video listed below “ The Case for the Creator” stated (5 min. 28 sec into the video) The Case for a Creator

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ajqH4y8G0MI

That “There is no way you can Harmonize Neo Darwinism with Christianity, I could never understand Christians who would say “ Well I believe in God yet I believe in Evolution as well” You see Darwin’s idea about the development of life led to his theory that modern science now generally defines as an undirected process completely devoid of any purpose or plan,”. Now how could God direct an undirected process? How could God have purpose in a plan behind a system that has no plan and no purpose? It just does not make sense.

It didn’t make sense to me in 1966 and it doesn’t make sense to me now.

The Apostle Paul wrote to His Son Timothy stating that “ in 2 Timothy 4:3-4 “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, [because] they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn [their] ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.”

Those Christians who believe in evolution have no idea how that effects their theology.

What is theistic evolution?

we evolve over thousands of years not a couple generations.

you have probably seen the skulls of different species of man through the ages there are only a few changes in bone structure through thousands of years of evolution. to see a change you would need to live a long time.

thats not how it works

changes are very small

it can be currently observed however. some children are now being born without appendixes. they were once used for digesting raw meat. you can see how long it takes for evolution to happen, people have been cooking meat for thousands of years

Yes, I was puzzled by this. Question-- if we don't want beards why do men have to shave.

The thing which blocks our understanding of evolution is our inabilty to accept the vast amount of time involved

Perhaps even as you asked the question another person raised their knuckles that much further off the ground. I think our core, our being has to evolve slow and steady. Nothing was created in one day...

there are. for instance, i was born with no wisdom teeth, because i dont need them. evolution at work. Evolution is a ridiculously slow process because we adapt to the planet as it is adapting.

man, i think you should go back to biology class.

evolution takes long time to be able to see it's result(macroevolution)

don't mixed ur mind with dangerous creation faith.
