well, that title was just to attract you, my question is: Can a human have abnormal strength or abilities by changing or adding a new gene by the process of gene therapy? for example a cougar can jump for three meters high, if we brought an adult male human and adult male cougar, and removed the "power" or "fitness" gene from the cougar and placed it in the human by the process of gene therapy, Will the human jump 3 meters high? or at least any of the powers of the cougar,

thanks, please no rude comments, this is just a theory

Ethically, I don't think it'll happen. Genetic manipulation is so inflammatory a topic that people still go ballistic over altered veggies. And congress would approve funding for human experimentation? I don't think so.

Practically, I don't think this would be possible with a single gene. There'd be the muscle genes, the skeletal genes and the metabolic genes involved in the cougar's leaping ability. There's also the "Drive" or motivation to succeed. Cougars know that their leaping makes the difference between survival and starvation. They've got the urge to succeed, but what if you put the genes into a human with "slacker" genes? Not much jumping in a couch potato, even if it's genetically modified.

If it were done, expect visible changes from that degree of alteration. Your jumper would probably have a cat-like leg structure at least, and wouldn't be able to pass as a human.

I think you are a little behind. Scientists have been doing this with crops for at least 2 decades. The reason humans are not experimented on is because of the laws of ethics. We should try that on mice or something

It is not just the genetics you need; the body would also have to be able to develop the necessary structures and muscles to facilitate the movements. Basically, to give a human such abilities, you'd have to create a hybrid, which would then no longer be classed as human.

See the video at the link. This details a group of girls who have been infused with the DNA of endangered animals. It's supernatural, you gotta believe a little change is good!

I'm not sure...but it's an awesome thought! I've thought about it too, and it would be really cool if we could do that!!
